Do I need to be assigned before I start?
Usually yes. If you start work before approval, you risk duplicating effort or working against a different expected scope.
What counts as “done”?
Typically: your Pull Request matches the task requirements, passes automated checks (if any), and is accepted by the maintainer.
When do I get paid?
Payment is released after acceptance according to the project’s workflow. See payments.
What if I get stuck?
Share what you tried, what you observed, and ask specific questions on the issue/PR.
Can I be paid for a contribution that did not start as a bounty?
Potentially, if the project agrees to pay for the accepted work and establishes a payment route. Do not assume that a merged Pull Request creates an automatic entitlement. Ask the maintainer to confirm scope, amount, and recipient. See What is Gitpay?.
